Body Wrap Weight Loss

Interested in body wrap weight loss? Don't know where to start or even if it's worth it? Read further as I give you the skinny on slimming body wraps.

Go to any spa, salon or rejuvenation center and you might be offered a body wrap and told that it will help you lose weight. Sounds good, but do they work? Are they worth the money? What are the real results? A salon should tell you that results will vary based on the individual person. They will usually state you an average amount of inches lost in general as a result of wrapping. But what they may not tell you is that the body wrap weight loss is really just temporary water loss.

Body wraps have benefits but they are not the only thing you need to lose weight and certainly not the answer to keeping off the pounds. If you need to lose a few quick inches to fit into a dress for a special occasion, then by all means, use a wrap. There are plenty of less expensive body wraps for use in your own home if the salon prices don't sit well with you. Let's explore the most popular types of wraps and what to look for when making your buying decision.

The 3 basic types of wraps are mineral, herbal and detoxing.

Mineral wraps contain a array of minerals (these may contain electrolyte minerals, potassium, sodium, zinc) or a wider range of colloidal trace minerals.

A friend of mine tried a mineral wrap that required exercise while being wrapped. Although it worked, it was uncomfortable and the results, again, are temporary.

Mineral wraps may contain minerals such as magnesium, potassium and sodium, so certain people should use caution when choosing a mineral wrap. Anyone with a heart condition or those taking a magnesium or potassium supplement should discuss with their doctor before using a mineral wrap containing these ingredients. Also, those on a sodium-restricted diet should check with their doctor because sodium minerals will soak into your bloodstream.

Herbal body wraps provide a variety of functions. Some help tone the skin, some detoxify, and some add moisture and healing of certain skin conditions.

Detoxing wraps and clays are self explanatory. Good detoxing clays include bentonite, french green clay, red clay, and clay from the sea.

Beside the basic 3, there are others that use collagen, seaweed, lipase or aloa vera.

At home, you can do a target wrap and only wrap a problem area, or you can do a full body wrap.

Here are some important tips on buying the best body wrap for you.

Take a good look at the body-wrap ingredients: What you put on your skin will soak through your pores, so look for organic ingredients and try to stay away from wraps containing Aluminum.

Also if you are prone to allergic reactions, make sure there is nothing in the ingredients that you might be allergic to.

A wrap offering weight loss results should also be able to provide "realistic" results. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Look for testimonials from people who have tried the wrap and are happy with the results. Your body wrap weight loss could range anywhere from 5-15 pounds on average.

Remember that body wraps are not a weight loss tool on their own. Exercise and eating fewer calories is the only real way to achieve long term weight loss.
