Raw Food Diet
If you're starting a raw food diet, you need a great raw food meal plan to kick it off. A balanced diet plan is at least 75% raw. A great plan is healthy and will help you to both succeed on and enjoy raw food. When many people start a diet of raw food, they begin with a 75 percent raw meal plan. It's really difficult to go cold turkey, even for some vegetarians.
If you're a regular person starting a raw food diet, you should keep your 25 percent of cooked food, proteins from animals, coffees and teas. You are most likely to stick to the diet if you allow yourself these options in 25 percent of the calories you consume. A raw food diet should be balanced with the right amount of plant proteins, good fats from nuts and seeds, and carbohydrates. A raw food diet is also great for weight loss.
Have Fun The mindset to have about this diet is that you are going to have fun with it. Have fun discovering the raw versions of foods you already love (such as salsas, guacamole, ice creams, nuts, granolas, etc.) There are also amazing super foods to discover like goji berries, raw honey (which is absolutely delicious), maca, coconuts, and raw chocolate. Simplicity When you're first starting out, make things easy on yourself. Don't start out with difficult recipes that require a lot of time to prepare (dehydrating, sprouting, etc.) Begin with smoothies that include raw super foods, juices and raw grass juice powders. Raw Food Nutrients Get your proteins, fats and carbs from raw food sources outlined below. Carbohydrates The main source of carbohydrates are fruits. starches (carrots) and grains. Protein Garden of Life Raw Meal provides 33 grams of protein (and not to mention 14 grams of fiber). I use it every day in my favorite raw food smoothie. Germinated nuts, seeds, grains and green leafy vegetables are great sources of protein. The hemp seed is also a fantastic source. You need to germinate your nuts and seeds in order to absorb the protein. Germination How would you go about germinating? At night before you sleep, put your nuts or seeds in a cup of purified water. In the morning, dump out the water and eat the seeds. Remember that hemp seeds are the only ones that don't require germination. Fats The main source of fats are avocados, coconut butter, nuts and seeds. Nutrition To maximize the nutrients you consume, eat a lot of raw leafy green vegetables and super foods. I don't bother with juicing or trying to eat pounds of leaves. I just use my favorite powder and add it to my raw food smoothie every morning; it is more than enough and tastes great in my smoothie. Simple and Sample Raw Food Diet PlanBreakfast Fresh fruit, coconut water, flax meal (banana, apple, flax seed, almond milk and cinnamon) topped with germinated nuts. Lunch Smoothie made of super foods, spinach and herbal tea, wheat grass, home-made sunflower seed cheese on cucumber, coleslaw with avocado. Dinner Carrot and avocado soup, thai lettuce wraps, green juice. Drinks Pure water, fresh juices, smoothies, coconut water, almond milk.
