How It Works

The Biggest Loser Cardio Max is a 50 minute workout broken into programmable segments on the DVD. Background exercisers are contestants from the 3rd and 4th seasons of show, lead by Bob Harper, Kim Lyons, and Jillian Michaels.

Who It’s For

Mid-level beginner to intermediate. There is the option to use a light pair of hand weights for one segment.

What To Expect

There are 3 cardio workouts and a warm-up and cool-down. The 3 cardio workouts are categorized into levels of increased intensity: Level 1 is a 20 minute boot-camp style segment instructed by Bob. Level 2 is a 10minute high intensity cardio routine instructed by Jillian. Kim instructs Level 3 which is a 10 minute kickboxing routine. You can program the DVD to play all the way through or to play certain segments.

In general, this a good workout routine. Bob and Jillian’s segments are the most challenging, which is odd because Level 3 with Kim is supposed to be the toughest. Depending on your endurance level, you may not find the entire video incredibly challenging, but enough to work up a sweat and burn some calories. One thing to be aware of is the impact on your knees. There is a lot of jumping and lunges.

Although this is a good DVD to get your body moving and to work-up a sweat, I do have my criticisms. In production and form, I think TheBiggest Loser DVDs are a bit too sloppy and quirky, but they have a “realness” vibe to them because the participants aren’t fitness models. And in this particular video, the bright and cheery Bob Harper was a little annoying. Jillian Michaels is a bit too manly in general. Annoyances aside, this is a great video to get an energetic workout and burn calories.
